Beer Cheese Festival

I realize a lot of our customers drive a good distance to visit our store and we appreciate it very much.  I wanted to tell you about an event happening in downtown Winchester soon that you may want to check out.  Come start the day early to beat the heat and then when you get done, visit your friends here at Major Dads Military Surplus.

This year marks the 9th year for the Winchester Beer Cheese Festival in downtown Winchester, KY.  It always occurs on the 2nd Saturday in June (June 10th) and runs from 10am-5pm.  This festival offers a wide variety of things to do that should be entertaining for the entire family.

Lots of things to do!

The Starting on the South end of Main Street close to the Bluegrass Museum, you can check out a wide variety of arts and crafts all made from local members of the Winchester Art Guild.  Then as you walk north you will enter the block closest to our historic courthouse.  Inside this block you will find 11 beer cheese vendors offering samples of the unique recipes.  For $5.00 per person, you can sample from all of the vendors there.  You will also be able to purchase it from most of them.
So if you are into beer cheese this is a really good bargain.

After crossing Broadway you enter North Main, which is where some of you remember our first store location.  In this block you will have non-profits giving out information and some like the Winchester Kiwanis (of which I am a member) trying to get you to “bail” someone out of jail.  All the proceeds from this event go toward helping kids in our county with purchasing clothing before the start of school.

Throughout the entire downtown you will find all the merchants having some great sales going on.

There will be live music located on Lexington Ave close to the Engine House Deli and on Broadway close to the Sheriff’s office.  Lastly a beer garden and food trucks will be set up. I believe they will be on Lexington Ave.

This event was recently named one of the best festivals in the South.  It is definitely worth the trip to Winchester to check it out.  And don’t forget to come pay us a visit while in town.
