Greg started his military career in 1980 when he enrolled in the ROTC program at Murray State University. Greg was commissioned as a 2LT in May of 1982 where he served as a platoon leader in the 1174th Transportation Company, TN Army National Guard until Sep 1985.
In October of 1985, Greg started his active duty career serving as a Chemical Officer in Camp Casey Korea, FT Hood, TX, FT McClellan, AL and FT Knox, KY until March of 1996. During his almost 11 years of active service, he served as Chemical Staff Officers in Armor and Mechanized Infantry Battalions and Brigades, Chemical One Station Unit Training Company Commander, Assistant Operations Officer for Readiness Group Knox and as an Aide-de-Camp for a Major General, Deputy Commanding General, 1st Army.
Greg completed his career while serving in the KY Army National Guard. He served on the HQ STARC G-3 staff for about a year and then served as a full time federal technician performing duties as Battalion Training Officer and Admin Officer and as the State Safety Specialist. In May of 2004, Greg retired as a Major after serving 24 years.
Greg currently serves as the Director for Partners In Education which is a non-profit dealing with education tutoring/mentoring in our community. He serves on the Main Street Winchester Board of Directors, Community Education Advisory Council, United Way Education Impact Advisory Council, Clark County Extension Council Advisory Board and Chamber of Commerce BEST Committee.

Denise grew up in Lexington and graduated from Bryan Station High School in 1990. She is the youngest of 3 kids to the late Robert C.Varble and Anna Varble. In 1998 she met Greg Yates and in May 1999 they married and lived in Lexington until 2005. Denise was a professional photographer before meeting Greg and ran her own business until 2005. Denise and Greg decided to get into the military surplus business in 2009.
Denise is a proud mother of two great kids. Grissom is 13 and Ainsley is 11. Denise enjoys spending time working in the yard, playing games with the kids and relaxing on the couch with our mascot Bear. She takes great pleasure in listening to Veterans stories and invites all Veterans to come visit our store.
